The experiment:

A 1.39 GeV/c π- beam at the 12 GeV Proton Synchroton at KEK was used to produce Σ- particles through the (π-,K+) reaction in the scintillating fiber (SCIFI) target. The tracks left by scattering Σ+ in the SCIFI target produced visual image data which were analyzed using an automatic track recognition program. After analyzing, of the remaining candidate events 30 Σ- p scattering events were selected by eye-scanning.

The data:

Σ- p → Σ- p differential cross section (DSG)
based on 30 events in the range 400 - 700 MeV/c
