The experiment:
A 1.64 GeV/c π+ beam at the 12 GeV Proton Synchroton
at KEK was used to produce Σ+ particles through the
(π+,K+) reaction in the scintillating fiber (SCIFI)
target. The tracks left by scattering Σ+
in the SCIFI target produced visual image data which
were analyzed using an automatic track recognition
program. After analyzing, of the remaining candidate events
11 Σ+ p scattering events were selected by
eye-scanning.

The uncertainties are the statistical uncertainties only.
Overall systematic uncertainties
are estimated to be about 16% of the obtained cross section
