The experiment:
During a systematic study of the interactions of K- mesons
in nuclear emulsion, an event was found which is interpreted as an elastic
scattering of a Σ+ hyperon from a free proton.
The kinetic energy of the Σ+ hyperon at the point of
scattering is 22.9 MeV and the angle of scattering in the CM system
of the Σ+ and the proton is 125 degrees.
(A mass of 1189 MeV for the Σ+ is assumed)
